SUMMARY:Vinyasa Flow - Dynamic
DESCRIPTION:This is a strong flow practice which will give you a good workout\, revitalising and energising. You’ll start slowly\, inviting kindness and mindfulness into your practice\, then build up heat as you move through plenty of sun salutes\, standing poses and floor postures. Like all our classes the foundation is mindful breathwork. Class finishes with deep relaxation. It’s suitable for those with experience of yoga and for people getting back into yoga with a good level of fitness. \n

SUMMARY:Yin Yoga - Open to All
DESCRIPTION:Yin is one of the most delicious forms of yoga you can experience. It is a passive\, non-ambitious practice\, with long-held floor poses and deep attention to mindfulness and mindful breathing. It targets connective tissue and joints rather than muscles\, gently encouraging a quiet internalised approach. We emerge from a yin practice feeling centred\, balanced\, whole and relaxed. \n

SUMMARY:Yoga for Hypermobility and Associated Conditions Workshop with Jas
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is open to both hypermobile people and yoga teachers/ movement instructors or therapists of any kind.\nWith Jasmine Sara\, an Accessible Yoga Teacher who specialises in Yoga for hypermobility.\n \nBook by October 14th for Earlybird discount! \nThis workshop is for anyone who wants to learn more about adapting Yoga with hypermobility. It will help yoga teachers accommodate students with symptomatic hypermobility and associated conditions like POTS\, ME/CFS\, and anxiety. It will also help Yoga students with hypermobility who want to adapt their own practice. \nDid you know that about 20% of people are hypermobile? This means you’re likely to encounter them in your yoga classes! Yet\, there is a huge lack of education in the industry on accessible yoga for hypermobile students. I’m here to change that. \n \nThis workshop will teach you:\n\n\nWhat hypermobility is and it’s common associated co-occuring conditions. \n\n\n\n\nMovement\, breath\, and relaxation principles to integrate into your classes/ practice. These principles not only accommodate hypermobile folk\, and folks with chronic illness but can also benefit everyone in class! \n\n\nHow to avoid common ways of practicing that can irritate the hypermobile body. \n\n\nHow to accommodate hypermobile folk in your Yoga classes (either for yourself if you’re hypermobile\, or for students if your a teacher) \n\n\nA clearer understanding of how hypermobility can impact a person and the ways Yoga can support. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHypermobility and associated chronic health conditions are commonly seen in Yoga land where many hypermobile people flock to\, and bendy-ness is often glorified but misunderstood. I want to raise awareness in this industry to help Yoga teachers and students expand their knowledge\, prioritise access needs\, and avoid injury. \nWhat is hypermobility?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHypermobility refers to the ability of joints to move beyond a normal\, or expected\, range of motion. Some people may naturally have hypermobile joints without any issues at all! But for others\, hypermobility can be associated with Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) or Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD). Both EDS and HSD can come with a complex mix of co-occurring conditions\, and a concoction of bothersome symptoms such as chronic pain\, fatigue\, joint instability\, GI issues\, and autonomic dysfunction. Learn more about hypermobility here. \nAs someone with Hypermobile EDS\, I bring both personal and professional experience to this workshop. \nIf financial barriers are preventing you from attending\, please reach out – I’d love to find a way for you to join us! \n\nTestimonials for the Workshop\n“Jas is exceptionally knowledgeable in the field of Hypermobility\, as well as the associated conditions. This workshop has been hugely insightful\, and is full of actionable practices that yoga teachers can use to increase awareness\, accessibility and develop skills to better support all students. Jas is engaging and effortlessly balances academic learning with personal anecdotes and a warm teaching style. Thank you!” \n“I really appreciated all the work and effort that went into providing the workshop. It was perfect\, really informative! Highly tailored information to address the physical needs of people who are hypermobile\, which is often overlooked. I learned the importance of not pushing oneself.” \n“100% likely to recommend workshop to a friend because Hypermobility and EDS are so poorly understood\, and this workshop raised awareness and looked to improve accessibility of classes. Jasmine is really knowledgeable and this is such important work that I’d love more people to learn from.” \nEarlybird price before October 14th is £28\, £33 after. \n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:New Moon Stretch & Sound Bath
DESCRIPTION:Expect a warm welcome to the monthly New Moon Stretch & Sound Bath Meditation event. A monthly reset to calm your body and relax your mind. Joe will guide you through a combination of slow\, mindful\, (yin style) floor-based SATYA somatic stretches and calm breathing practices that prepare you for the bespoke themed sound bath. Each month the element of the star sign will influence the way the sounds are played intuitively by Joe. Refreshments and equipment is provided\, all are welcome just come with an open mind and heart. \n \nAs the singing bowls\, frame drum\, percussion instruments\, voice and the gongs are played the different harmonics can slow down the brain wave state inducing a deep state of rest\, a process is called entrainment. \nThe sounds created are ‘neutral’ and they respond to our bodies and any holding that we may have be that physical\, mental\, emotional\, energetic or spiritual. Everyone is different and your experience is unique to you. As the body rests and mind finds stillness some may experience an altered state of consciousness akin to a deep meditative state. \nEach month Joe adapts her sound bath to the elemental influence of the New Moons; astrological sign adapting the rhythm and instruments played e.g. fire\, air\, water and earth. During the sound bath you might like to sit but most people prefer to lie on the floor in a supported rest position. All yoga equipment will be provided however if you prefer your own blanket and eye mask bring them along and a closed-top drinking cup. Wear warm layers as during relaxation the body can cool down. \nOnce the sounds have ended you’ll be invited to sit\, have some chocolate\, select an oracle card and then head downstairs for a warm drink to prepare you for the journey home. Afterwards you might find the sonic massage will leave you feeling relaxed\, energised\, or more reset; and it’s never the same! \nThe New Moon is a great time for sowing the seeds of your intention as you work with the energy of the month’s astrological sign. If you’ve never worked with the lunar cycles Joe invites you to give it a try! Join for the year and SAVE 10% off the monthly price and a pre-booked ticket. Contact Joe to arrange this option. \nPlease note: Sound work is contraindicated for pregnancy\, those with metal plates\, or pacemakers and if you suffer from sound-induced epilepsy and for some mental health conditions. If you have any questions please contact Joe directly at hello@joannebull.co.uk or 07799 145548. \nThe session will take place in the first floor studio with stair access only. Doors close promptly at 7 pm with no late arrivals. \nJoanne Bull www.joannebull.co.uk \nJoe (Joanne) Bull is a York based holistic therapist with eighteen years experience and\ncombines the tools that have helped her to heal and maintain her body and mind. She works\nwith sound\, meditation\, yoga nidra\, SATYA somatics\, Scaravelli-inspired yoga\, and\ntherapeutic massage. \n
